About The Company
The hotel's famous name began with the birth of Cesar Ritz in Switzerland in 1850. Eventually known as the "King of Hoteliers," Ritz opened three luxurious hotels in Europe: London's Carlton and The Savoy, and the Ritz in Paris. The Ritz-Carlton Investing Company was established by Albert Keller in 1911, paying a large sum of money to the Ritz Hotel Development Syndicate in London for franchising the name in the United States. Afterwards in the same year, the Ritz Carlton Investing Company of US opened its first Ritz-Carlton Hotel, located on Madison Avenue and Forty-Sixth Street, New York. This mark the sophisticated beginning of the company. Another milestone of the company is to be a part of Starwood and Marriott group by merging their rewards membership.
In February 7, 2014, the Ritz Carlton Hotel in partnership with Sekisui House, Ltd opened in Kyoto, Japan’s cultural capital. This hotel was the first luxury hotel to be opened in Kyoto and it received many praises since then. The Ritz Carlton Kyoto is fourththe Japan’s property of the hotel. Peter Remedios as the designers infused the character of a traditional Meiji house that was built in 1908 and owned by the wealthy Denzaburo Fujita into the architectural structure of the building, while blending in modern design elements.
