Reflections:
My internship in ParkRoyal is the first time for me to experience working in a real life professional workplace. To be honest, it was a great opportunity to be able to work in this company and to meet new and successful people who gave me all their time and genuine affection in teaching and guiding me. Through this internship, I recognize that I’m improving myself better not only in the quality or work but also in my perspective of the world or in other word, to be more open minded regarding real life hotel situations. A lot of learning that I have gained in this training help me to enhance special skills that I can use for my future career such as: Communicating skill, which I’m able to interact, share and give ideas or information to the guest; Interpersonal skill, let me to be more active in terms of teamwork and working together with my colleagues and other staff; I’m able to apply the theories that I have learned before to the internship. Moreover, I also gained a lot of unexpected learning, in terms of pseudo rooms, PM number reservation, and more about room controller.
Through this internship, I can say that it helped me to learn the hotelier knowledge that I cannot find elsewhere. It was such a great opportunity to be able to have my internship at this company because they taught and train the students professionally not only in hotel knowledge but also in manners. The supervisor even let me to do check in and check out for the guest as my training. However, I regret that I could not experience learning more about hotel knowledge because the length of the internship period was too short. I would recommend that some of the staff must learn how to speak English so that they can communicate well with the guest and also us, as the trainee.
